Android SDK Platform-Tools 37.0.2 (November 2026)

Android SDK Platform-Tools is a component for the Android SDK. It includes tools that interface with the Android platform, such as adb, fastboot, and systrace. These tools are required for Android app development. They’re also needed if you want to unlock your device bootloader and flash it with a new system image. Although some new features in these tools are available only for recent versions of Android, the tools are backward compatible, so you need only one version of the SDK Platform-Tools.

Android SDK Platform-Tools 37.0.2 (November 2026)

adb

  • Reduce debug log spam. Demote high-frequency data-plane logs (such as reads and writes) to verbose level (for example: usb:v, transport:v) to prevent large log files.
  • Add support for syncing the system_dlkm, vendor_dlkm, and odm_dlkm partitions in the adb sync command.
  • Deprecate the adb install --fastdeploy option in favor of the android install command. Fast Deploy remains temporarily available using the --deprecated-fastdeploy flag and will be removed in 37.0.3.
  • Linux:
    • Introduce the libadbusb library to replace the legacy USB backend (ADB_USB_LEGACY=1). The libadbusb library uses periodic USB bus polling (1000ms default, configurable using the ADB_USB_LINUX_POLL_INTERVAL_MS environment variable) instead of netlink hotplug to avoid missing devices after in-place USB resets or concurrent start-server command races.
    • Improve the legacy USB backend (ADB_USB_LEGACY=1). Add a reconnection retry loop to recover devices in case of missing netlink events.
  • MacOS:
    • Introduce the libadbusb library to replace the legacy USB backend. The libadbusb library can be disabled by setting the ADB_USB_LEGACY environment variable to 1.
    • Fix an adb server crash (abort in _Unwind_Backtrace) on Apple Silicon M6 (macOS 27) caused by capturing backtraces on ignored non-ADB mDNS records.
    • Fix an adb server crash (KERN_INVALID_NAME Mach port exception) on USB device attach when AMFI is disabled.
